To be held on the second Thursday of the month, the first gig will kick off with internationally renowned singer and guitarist Nick Charles.

Charles, who wowed fans at the first Breizoz gig in 2007, will perform on March 11 with young and talented local singer-guitarist Georgina Stewart.

The live music sessions have brought a wide range of talented acoustic musicians to the area.

They are organised by Simon Leverton, Greg Hammond and Christine McDonald, and supported by Breizoz owners Francophile Catherine Ryan and her French husband Jean-Marie Blanchot. This month's jamming at 139 Nelson Place starts about 7pm.

The venue, at the rear of the creperie, was formerly a small chapel for seamen.

A public address system is used to amplify the otherwise completely acoustic sound.

Leverton, Hammond and McDonald are supported by the Newport Fiddle and Folk Club, whose members help

out on the night. All work is done voluntarily, for the love of the music.

"The venue provides a fantastic opportunity for up-and-coming local musos to develop their skills", Leverton says. McDonald adds that local talent, especially young people, are encouraged to have a go in front of an appreciative audience.

Entry is $10/$5 for Newport Fiddle and Folk Club members.
