Going, going, gone ... to highest bidder

17 Mar, 2010 08:35 AM
ARTWORK by Hobsons Bay's young people will be sold to the highest bidders.

The No Reserve auction this month will raise money for the Street SmART program, which provides free workshops in spray-paint art for young people in Hobsons Bay.

Project co-ordinator Katherine Dine said the program was important to help young people express themselves creatively without breaking the law.

Some previous works have been exhibited in galleries and commissioned for projects.

Ms Dine said the auction would feature works by the those taking part as well as pieces donated by Hobsons Bay's artists.

"People can see contemporary art from young people but also more traditional drawings and painting by local artists."

No Reserve is from 6.30pm, March 26, at Louis Joel Community Arts Centre, 5Sargood Street, Altona.
