Mutt aims for film glory

18 Mar, 2009 11:28 AM
AN animated film written and directed by Williamstown's Glen Hunwick is among those vying for glory at the annual Flickerfest Festival this year.

The multi-award winner, who runs Glen Art Productions Studio in Williamstown, said he was hopeful of big things if his film titled Mutt proved popular.

"I am off to the Heart of Gold film festival in Queensland next week and then to the United States straight after, where Mutt is also in competition in Aspen, New York, Dallas and a few others places," Hunwick said.

"The film was finished over a year ago but continues to gain more and more life."

Hunwick said he was an extremely passionate film-maker and story-teller who had honed his film-directing techniques after gaining wide experience while producing TV advertising for many years. Hunwick said Mutt was about a loyal, hard-working dog called Mutt and his owner Mac, a disgruntled farmer who barely managed to eke out a living from selling the milk of his dairy cow, Matilda.

The three characters are unwittingly dependent on each other for survival, but each has their own all-consuming obsession.

Mutt screens on March 26-27, at the Kino, 45 Collins Street, Melbourne.
