Peddling healthy travel

LAVERTON P-12 College students will join children across Australia in getting to school under their own steam on National Ride2School Day next Wednesday.

More than 100,000 Aussie schoolchildren are expected to celebrate the annual event with healthy breakfasts, cycling festivals, school parades and bike excursions.

Bicycle Victoria's CEO Harry Barber said 1000 schools and 100,000 children took part in last year's event. "National Ride2School Day allows parents and teachers to embrace active travel," he said. "This has become the largest-ever celebration of walking and riding to school."
